Decorate your office with this cute red panda coworker!

Aggretsuko is a Netflix anime that follows the daily life of Retsuko, a female red panda. By day she works in the company's Accounting department, and by night she goes to karaoke and unleashes her pent up work stress by singing death metal songs. Unlike Retsuko's harrowing workplace struggles, this paper quilling design is a breeze! Simply mix and match both loose and tight coil shapes to create this cute design.

 What you will need:

-Glue
-Toothpick
-Background paper (I used blue, 8" x 11" computer paper)
-Six 11" dark blue strips (for the clothes)
-Three 11" light orange strips (for the tail)
-Eleven 22" light orange strips (for the fur/body)
-Twenty 11" white strips (for the ears, fur, clothes, arms)
-Five 22" white strips (for the ears, face)
-Six 11" black strips (for the face, shoes)
-Ten 11" brown strips (for the face, paws, neck, tail)
-Two 22" brown strips (for the inner ears)

To get started

Watch the video tutorial, or read the instructions below:

Step 1: With the toothpick, roll a 22" light orange strip. Expand into a loose coil, and glue to secure it. Pinch the coil into a triangle, with a top point, a left point, and a bottom point. This is the left cheek.

Step 2: Continue rolling 22" light orange strips into loose coils to create the head; make a square, place it diagonally like a diamond shape, and put it to the bottom right of the triangle you just made. Then add a long, thin triangle on the top right side of the starting triangle. Curve the top of the long thin triangle towards the right.

Step 3: Add a triangle to the right of the long thin triangle you just made, and on top of the square you made. Add a triangle to the right of the square. Then add another diagonally placed square to the right of this triangle. Add another triangle on top of this square, and to the left of the upper center triangle.

Step 4: To make the right cheek, make a small, thin triangle, and place on the upper right of the rightmost square. Next, make two large, thin rectangles and pinch the outermost edge, to make an eyebrow looking shape. Glue these rectangles to the top of the head, so that the tapered end is on the outermost part of the head (the most left and the most right).

Step 5: Finally, complete the head by adding a large, thin, orange crescent on top of the 2 thin rectangles. You should now have something that looks like this:

The completed head

Step 6: Roll a 22" brown strip into a medium loose coil. Glue to secure, then pinch into a thin triangle. Place this triangle diagonally like " \ " and glue the flat end of the triangle on top of the orange rectangle eyebrow shape, just before it connects to the orange crescent.

Step 7: Now roll a 22" white strip into a loose coil, and glue it. Pinch into a thin rectangle. Make another thin white rectangle. Glue both of these rectangles around the brown triangle to form the ear. Finish the ear by rolling two, 11" white strips into tight triangles, and glue these triangles to the bottom of the leftmost white rectangle.

Step 8: Repeat steps 6 and 7 to make the other ear.

Step 9: Roll an 11" brown strip into a loose coil. Pinch into a triangle, and place the flat side face up and the pointy part face down. Glue this brown triangle under the bottomost orange triangle of the head. This is the neck.

Step 10: With an 11" white strip, make a tight coil and pinch into a thin triangle (this is part of the lapels on the shirt). Glue this pointy side out and flat side facing inward, to the brown triangle.

Step 11: Make a normal triangle with an 11" white strip, and glue flat side face up to the brown triangle. Use 2 more 11" white strips to make another thin triangle and normal triangle, and glue these on the opposite side of the brown triangle.

Step 12: Roll an 11" dark blue strip into a loose coil. Pinch into a rectangle. Glue this rectangle to the bottom of the first, thin white triangle of the clothes. Curve the blue rectangle slightly to the right.

Step 13: Add another 11" dark blue rectangle on the other side. Now roll 2, 11" dark blue strips into medium squares, and glue these squares on the inner parts of the dark blue rectangles you just made. This completes the upper torso.

Step 14: Roll two more 11", dark blue strips into loose coils, and pinch them into squares. Glue these squares below the two torso squares you just made. Try to slant the outer sides of these squares like this "\ /" to make a skirt shape.

Step 15: Next roll an 11" white strip into a loose coil. Pinch into a thin rectangle, and place diagonally like " / ". Glue the upper right end of this rectangle to the leftmost small white triangle near the neck. This white rectangle is the arm.

Step 16: Roll an 11" browns strip into a tight coil (can expand slightly, but not much). Lightly pinch into an oval shape, then glue this to the lower end of the white arm rectangle you just made. This is the paw. Make another white thin rectangle and brown oval to complete the arm on the other side.

Step 17: With an 11" brown strip,  make a medium sized coil. Pinch into a rectangle, place vertically like " | " and glue below the leftmost blue skirt square you just made. This brown rectangle is the leg. Make another and glue under the rightmost blue skirt square.

Step 18: Roll an 11" black strip into a tight coil. Lightly pinch into an oval shape, and glue to the lower end of the brown rectangle leg you just made. This is the shoe. Make another brown rectangle and black oval to finish the leg on the other side.

Step 19: To start the tail, roll an 11" light orange strip and make a slightly loose coil. Pinch into a rectangle, then place it vertically like " | " and glue to the right side of the rightmost blue skirt square. Roll an 11" brown strip into a tight coil, pinch into a thin rectangle, and glue to the right of the orange rectangle you just made.

Step 20: Make two more light orange rectangles and one more brown rectangle. Glue the first orange rectangle to the right of the brown rectangle you just made in step 19. Then glue the brown rectangle to the right of the orange rectangle you just made. Finally, glue the remaining orange rectangle to the right of the brown rectangle.

Step 21: Roll an 11" light orange strip into a loose coil, and pinch into a half circle. Glue this half circle to the right of the rightmost brown rectangle to complete the tail. You should now have something that looks like this:

Step 22: Next roll an 22" white strip and make a loose coil. Lightly pinch 3 points (one on the left, one on top, and one on the right) to make the face. Glue this to the center on top of the orange head, leaving a thin line of orange beneath it.

Step 23: With an 11" brown strip, make a loose coil, and pinch into a thin rectangle. Curve this rectangle to match the curve on the left side of the white face. Glue the rectangle to the left side of the face, and pinch the top of the rectangle to make a U shape.

Step 24: Roll an 11" black strip into a loose coil, and glue a little bit away from the edge of the paper strip. Then bend the remaining, unglued paper strip backward, to make the eye lash. Glue the eye on top of the orange head, above the U shape of the brown rectangle.

Step 25: Make a tight coil from an 11" white strip, and pinch into a thin triangle. Glue this triangle pointy part facing left and flat side under the eyelash "\" of the eye. Make two more small, thin white triangles and one tight, curved teardrop. Glue one triangle under the first white triangle, then glue the curved teardrop, then glue the last white triangle below that and to the bottom of the brown rectangle.

Step 26: Repeat Steps 23 to 25 to make the right side of the face. Roll an 11" black strip into a tight coil, and pinch into a triangle. Glue this triangle on top of the white face as the nose. Finally, glue a strip of black paper, curved into a U shape, on top of the white face to add the mouth.

Congratulations! You have now paper quilled Retsuko from Aggretsuko!

What can I do better?

For the skirt, you can roll a 22" dark blue strip to make a rectangle, instead of using two squares. You can also glue the tail rectangles in a curved pattern to make the tail curvy instead of straight. Since Retsuko does have quite the extensive wardrobe, you can experiment with different paper colors to make different clothes (not just office uniforms). Finally, instead of a black strip for the smile, you could add a pink ghost or duck foot to make an open mouth.
